Dropped Out: Dakota Ridge

The Storylines:

  • The Bomb Cyclone really put a damper on things as almost every team had at least one game postponed due to the snow. That’s why, after two full weeks of play, many teams only have one game under their belt.
  • Cherry Creek proved to be very impressive in their first two contests of the season. The Bruins controlled both Monarch and Denver East from start to finish and got double-digit victories in both games.
  • Regis Jesuit got quite the scare from Columbine in their opening game of the season. The Rebels were able stick with Regis all game and ended up sending it to overtime. Joe Kassal’s OT game-winner saved the Raiders from what would have been an embarrassing start to the season for the defending champs.

The Next Two Weeks:

  • Not much is scheduled from March 18-March 30. Most of the games that you will see feature teams from outside of Colorado as many local schools are heading elsewhere for some Spring Break action.
  • Games to Watch:
    • March 27th #1 Regis Jesuit at Torrey Pines (CA)
    • March 28th Park City (UT) at #2 Cherry Creek

1 Cheyenne Mountain 3-0
2 Thompson Valley 0-0
3 Erie 2-0
4 Aspen 0-0
5 Golden 1-0
6 Steamboat Springs 1-0
7 Battle Mountain 1-1
8 Green Mountain 2-0
9 Dawson School 1-0

Dropped Out: Littleton, Conifer

The Storylines:

  • The Erie Tigers have put on a show to start the year. I’ll be the first to admit that our preseason poll completely underestimated the newcomers from up north. They’re 2-0 already and have outscored opponents 23-1 so far.
  • The Bomb Cyclone really made it tough for many teams to get multiple games under their belt. Thompson Valley, Aspen, and Evergreen all have yet to play a game as we enter the third week of the season.

The Next Two Weeks:

  • Spring Break has arrived for many Colorado teams. Many games on the 4A level will feature teams from outside of Colorado.
  • Games to Watch:
    • March 20th #5 Golden at #3 Erie
    • March 25th #2 Thompson Valley at Rocky Mountain
